Cheaper Transfers to French Ski Resorts

Your author: Powder Monkey November 30th, 2008 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

Snowjet has always aimed to get you to the slopes more quickly and for less. We do so by providing low-cost, skier friendly flights to Chambéry, the local airport for many of the finest ski resorts in the French Alps. Flying to Chambéry hugely reduces transfer times and therefore transfer costs to Val d’Isere, Meribel, Courchevel, Les Arcs, La Plagne and more. At Snowjet we are conscious of the fact that even a short transfer can be very expensive, so we have come up with a brand new initiative to save you even more money on your ski holiday travel arrangements.

Ski Resorts Open Early across the French Alps!

Your author: Powder Monkey November 28th, 2008 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

The French ski season is gathering momentum with more and more resorts announcing that they will open earlier than planned thanks to last weekend’s mega dump of snow. And it seems the snow wealth was evenly distributed right across the Alps.

It’s been a sub-zero week in Chamonix and the early snow is hanging around, even at resort level, so I will be skiing locally this weekend. The Compagnie du Mont Blanc, who manages the lifts in the valley, has announced a partial opening of the Grands Montets, and Chamonix’s Italian resort partner, Courmayeur has followed suit. Chamonix’s former French partner, Les Houches, is also due to open tomorrow.

Your author: Powder Monkey November 27th, 2008 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

The most important event on the 2009 skiing calendar, the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, will be held in Val d’Isere from 2nd-15th February. When Val won the bid to host the championships the organising committee vowed the event would be free and accessible to all. True to their word, free race invitations and transport vouchers are now available from www.valdisere2009.org. The website has received 100,000 invitation requests to date and attendance is expected to run to 200,000 over the course of the two week event, making it the biggest yet.

Be the First on the Slopes

Your author: Powder Monkey November 26th, 2008 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

With all this early snow, 2008 is the year to ski in December. And there are some great pre-Christmas bargains out there. We have selected a couple of the best deals in the snow-sure resorts of Tignes and La Plagne.

Ski La Source boasts a portfolio of beautiful chalets in Montchavin & Les Coches. The two traditional alpine villages are lift-linked to the La Plagne ski area, where the snow is already stacking up. At the time of writing there are 75cm of snow in Plagne Centre (2000m), 110 cm on the Bellecote glacier and it looks, from these images, like there is no shortage of snow lower down.

The Snow Lies Deep in Verbier in November

Your author: Powder Monkey November 25th, 2008 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

Check out these amazing shots of the powder in Verbier on Sunday 23rd November. Nobody was in the mood to hang around for the photographer with the snow in optimum condition but in the end we were glad we were patient for five minutes while he set up for these great action shots. Thank you Chris.
