Sion to Nendaz – The shortest ski transfer in the Alps?
When Snowjet launched its ski flights to Sion last winter we knew the route would take off because of the proximity of Sion airport to big name resorts such as Verbier (45mins), Saas Fee (1h15 mins) and Zermatt (1h40mins) but we weren’t aware that there is masses of skiing even closer by. Nendaz, an up and coming ski resort in the heart of the 4 Vallees – the largest ski area in Switzerland – is just a 20 minute transfer away from Sion. So close, in fact, that you can already see it perched on the mountainside when you arrive at the airport and you keep the runway in sight for most of the short drive up to resort.

Half Term Snow Conditions – What to Expect
Next week, February half-term, is one of the most popular for British skiers to hit the slopes. If you are among those heading for the French or Swiss Alps for the holidays you are likely to find excellent snow conditions wherever your chosen resort. If December was a little disappointing snow-wise January was outstanding with decent snowfalls on an almost weekly basis – making for current snow depths in excess of 3m in some areas, notably Chamonix. The most recent dump of snow on last Friday (05/02/10) was also one of the heaviest of the season so far with up to 50cm of fresh falling across a whole host of resorts including Tignes, Val Thorens and La Plagne in France and Verbier, Zermatt and Saas Fee in Switzerland.

Snowjet Adds New Geneva Flights
Snowjet, the ski flight specialist, will begin operating direct flights from London Gatwick to Geneva in Switzerland for the 09/10 winter ski season.
The weekly Geneva service will complement Snowjet’s existing flights to Chambery and Sion and has been introduced in direct response to passenger’s requests.
“Our Chambery flights provide easy access to some of France’s top ski resorts including Meribel, Val d’Isere and Courchevel, while our Sion flights offer the fastest route to some of Switzerland’s best resorts including Verbier, Saas Fee and Crans Montana,” said David Lacy, Snowjet’s Managing Director. “Our passengers were telling us they’d appreciate flights to access other resorts including Chamonix, Morzine and Avoriaz, so we’ve introduced the Geneva service to meet this demand.”
The flights, available to book online from today at www.snowjet.co.uk, have a lead in fare of just £29 one way, including all taxes and a free 20kg baggage allowance. Ski-carriage is just £14.99 one way.
