Mid December Snow Conditions in the Alps

Your author: Powder Monkey December 14th, 2011 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

It looks like our obsession with the snow forecast is paying dividends – it’s snowing again in the Alps and the white stuff is due to keep coming for the next 4 days.  Up to 60 cms of snow is expected in our favourite ski resorts including Val d’isere, Tignes, Val Thorens, Les Arcs and Courchevel in France and Verbier, Zermatt, Crans Montana and Saas Fee in Switzerland.  And that’s on top of the huge dump that fell last week.

Snowjet passengers arriving on our first flights to Chambery airport in the French Alps and Sion airport in the Swiss Alps this weekend are going to enjoy some fantastic snow conditions.  And there’s still time to join them and make yours the first tracks in the fresh snow that’s been falling.  So check out the snow forecast in your favourite resort and get booking yourself a sneaky last minute ski holiday.

Snowjet still have flights departing this weekend (17th & 18th December) available at great rates including Stansted to Chambery from £64.99 one way and Stansted to Sion from £99.99 one way.

Snow is Falling

At the very same time that the British media picked up on the lack of early season snow in the Alps it began snowing and hasn’t stopped. It’s been snowing in our favourite French and Swiss ski resorts since Friday and it’s still falling as I post this, transforming the mountains into slidey playgrounds.

October Snow

Your author: Powder Monkey October 9th, 2011 - Posted by: Powder Monkey

This weekend there were some more promising early signs of a bumper snow year in the making with snow falling down to 1300m across the French and Swiss Alps. It was a sudden but welcome change in weather for winter lovers, following several days of mid 20s temperatures during the week. As these photos, taken in Saint Gervais at 1500m, show summer is well and truly over in the Alps. Roll on the ski season.
