It’s Dumping with Snow in the French Alps!
After a superb day on the hill in Verbier yesterday, spirits were really high about an incredible snow year in the making. And this morning I awoke to these snowy scenes in Chamonix.
Although most of the skiing in the valley is above 2000m, Chamonix town is only at 1080m, so these kind of scenes are pretty rare. And the snow is still falling. I don’t think the Compagnie du Mont Blanc will seriously be able to claim insufficient snow to open next weekend, and if they do there may be a local uprising! I won’t waste my time banging my head against a brick wall though, I’ll just head elsewhere. I’m thinking Val Thorens, the latest resort to open for the season.
